About Deer Creek Reservoir
Deer Creek Reservoir was built in 1954 as Alliance’s primary drinking water supply. This 300-acre lake surrounded by forest features an accessible fishing pier, a boat ramp for electric motors only, picnic tables and grills, and a section of the Mahoning Valley Trail.
Deer Creek serves as a trailhead for the Mahoning Valley Trail. The trail is currently completed in segments and can also be accessed from Earley Hill Park off of Gaskill Drive. There is a small parking lot on the North side of Gaskill Drive along the Mahoning River in Alliance. The scenic trail offers great views of the bottom land hardwood forest where spring wildflowers such as jack in the pulpit, false solomon’s seal, and swamp buttercup are plentiful.
