Applications for educational/scholarship funds are available to Ohio young birders

The Ohio Ornithological Society provides scholarships to help Ohio young people who are interested in birds to attend summer camps, workshops, training programs, conventions, and other bird-related activities throughout the year.

The funds for our scholarships come primarily from donations from OOS membership as well as donations from the Bill Thompson III Young Birder’s Trust.

Young birders from age 8-17, residing in Ohio, are eligible to apply for funds up to 50% of registration fees for summer camps, workshops, conventions and bird-related activities. (In exceptional circumstances, OOS may award more if we see a case of special need.)

Applications will be taken throughout the year for youth ages 8-17 for Ohio events and programs related to birding.

Applications for summer camps are usually open around November of the year prior to the camp scheduled. Since deposits are needed to reserve a spot for your camper, you will need to apply promptly.

Applications should be sent to:

Ohio Ornithological Society, Youth Education Committee, PO Box 2432, Westerville, OH 43086. Direct any questions to sue.evanoff@ohiobirds.org
